The Existence of God
"A God or not a God," that is the question. If proof is what you need, then proof is what you will get. I will state the following information based on what I’ve experienced, what has been taught to me, and what has been revealed.
My first attempt to persuade you will be in examples. I will state some reasons why or why not evolutionists, atheists, and other types of beliefs are right or wrong.
Evolution: fact or fiction? If you are an evolutionist, I ask you to consider the following facts, that you would either stand more firmly upon its truth, or flee from its nonsense. At first glance, it seems logical; Over billions of years, micro-organisms grew and changed into greater creatures, with the peak being mankind. But look deeper than what is shown to everyone; are we really formed from a "primordial soup"? This negates our "magnificence" as human beings greatly (meaning we are just an advanced for of the bacteria that we clean off our teeth each day).
Firstly, consider what the Bible says, even if you think it’s just a book. It says in Romans 1:20, "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made." Because everything in nature fits so perfectly together; the weather system, the planetary system, photosynthesis, the food chain, the sun and the moon, and day and night, along with many other examples, it is illogical to believe it has all happened by time and chance.
Secondly, if evolution was true, why isn’t there abounding evidence of it? Have you ever seen a half-evolved lizard, fish, bat, or human? A lizard knows what a lizard does; It climbs on trees, hides from predators, and snatches food very well. If its two front legs were to begin evolving into wings, it would have trouble! In the process of growing wings, the lizard would have trouble walking due to these large objects on its back, and yet it couldn’t fly because the wings have not fully grown. It is the same with all other creatures; if a fish begins to walk, if a horse begins to swim, or if an eagle begins to run, they will not perform their functions efficiently.
Moving onward, I find Atheism to be an unsatisfactory belief. What hope is there in this? What joy, what peace, and what comfort can we find by rejecting God’s existence? "Well," says the Atheist, "If there is no God, then there is no Hell." And you are right in saying this. But along with Hell, so goes Heaven. So goes a static rule of right and wrong, so goes an eternity of happiness, so goes the purpose in life, and so goes you.
Is it proof that you need? Here is some proof: Since I was a child, I was taught about God, about Heaven and Hell, about right and wrong, and many lessons as these. It never occurred to me, however, that God was actually real. But I knew at least one thing was real, and that was the family whacker! One and a half feet of pure pain on the bottom did a lot to my little stubborn will. But as I grew older, I began to like the world more, and all the things in it (not necessarily bad): friends, music, computer games, vacations, food, holidays, roller hockey, and more. Some of these things clashed with what my parents had taught me early in life, but we managed. I became weary of their incessant doctrinal lessons and biblical lectures; I wanted to have fun. Of course, this was all inside, and they didn’t know how I felt. So time went on, and I grew closer to the world, drinking deeply into its power and pleasure, and following its deceptive path. But I never experienced true happiness until submitting to God; I grew tired of the fun, the games, the people, the holidays, and the seasons. God filled that void. His power turned me around, because if it had not, I would still be lost and confused, seeking for this happiness, and never finding it.
Is it a logical answer that you need? How about this: Is it wrong to kill? The obvious man says "Of course it’s wrong to kill. Inside we just know it." And he is right in saying so. Another reason is because we would be put into jail. It also hurts people. But take away the punishments, the law, and the feelings of others, and give me a good reason why killing is wrong. If there is no highest rule, or no ultimate authority, then murder is perfectly fine because we will not get punished! It means that men just don’t want to get hurt, so they label it as "wrong."
Another common belief is Agnosticism, but in reality, it is just another form of Atheism. Some others, like Catholicism, Islam, and Mormons take parts from the Bible, and manipulate them as they see fit. Men seem to do whatever they want, make their plans established, change the people’s minds, and everything seems to be just fine. But if God is real, then you abide by His rule, and anything besides that is just the same as atheism and evolution.
I find it very difficult to doubt God’s existence, and have found it to be a deliberate choice which one decisively makes. It is inconsistent to hold to information and yet to deny true knowledge, it is illogical to speak of greatness if greatness can’t be described, and it is pointless to deny God’s existence if we don’t even know who we are.
Here are a few words in conclusion: Do you seek for the truth? Are you tired of looking around for something to live for, to give for, and to die for? Wait no longer. If you will seek Him, you will find Him. If you would knock, it would be opened to you (Matthew 7:7,8).
